Wickham Skeith (IP23) is a small rural parish, 5 miles from Eye, and the Parish Council is looking to recruit an organised and community-focused person, someone who is committed to working with the Parish Council to improve our community, who has energy and enthusiasm, along with a continued willingness to learn.
This is a permanent position for 4 hours per week, on a flexible basis to include attendance at bi-monthly meetings held at Wickham Skeith Village Hall. There will be occasional additional meetings when required. Salary is dependent on experience.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare agendas, reports, and minutes for Parish Council meetings
Ensure compliance with all statutory obligations
Provide professional advice and support to the council
Undertake correspondence on behalf of the council
Manage the Councils finances, including preparation of budgets and record keeping
Administer the councils banking arrangements in accordance with Finance Regulations
Ensure councils policies procedures and records are up to date
Ensure Council complies with GDPR
Essential skills required for this position
Excellent administrative, organisational and communication skills.
Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and meet deadlines.
Competent IT skills, including the use of Microsoft Office applications and email.
Knowledge of financial record keeping and basic accounting principles.
Professional and diplomatic approach when dealing with Councillors, residents and external bodies.
Desirables:
Previous experience as a Parish Clerk, RFO or in a local government administrative role.
Knowledge of local council law, powers and procedures.
Familiarity with local government financial and audit procedures.
